Proof Checking for RCC Buildings: When Owners Need an Independent Review
Proof checking is an independent verification of another engineer’s structural design — calculations, models, and drawings — before good-for-construction (GFC) release. On RCC buildings, it is commonly mandated by developers, municipal authorities, or lender’s engineers on high-rise towers, hospitals, and institutional projects across Mumbai and Thane.
The reviewer does not redesign the structure. Instead, they check load combinations, member sizes, reinforcement details, foundation assumptions, and IS code compliance, then issue traceable comments for the design team to close.
Key points
- Design basis report and applicable IS codes / project criteria
- STAAD or manual calculation sheets with load combinations
- Structural GA, foundation, and typical detail drawings
- Prior comment sheets if this is a revision cycle
